After taking them out of the greenhouse this spring, I let the Bougainvilleas just grow as they wished.

Bougainvilleas with New Green Growth 

They have lots of green growth but are getting long and leggy. I had not fertilized them all spring but I finally did fertilize them this month with 3-4-5 fertilizer.

Bougainvilleas are Vines

Bougainvilleas are sometimes referred to as leggy but they are vines so I may have to let some of these grow as vines up a trellis of some sort. I'll do some mild pruning at the tips.

Update: Oct 09, 2023 - Bougainvilleas in the fall       

I ended up pruning these along the vines some. I also fertilized them on a monthly basis. In September they began growing vivid and bright bracts.

Update: Oct 09, 2023 - Bougainvilleas with New Bract Growth 

They are still viiny/leggy but since pruning them and fertilizing them along the branch, they began to get some very nice bright bracts. By October, these Bougainvilleas have looked the best they've ever looked. See more.
